Heart with Piano Wire

Shortlisted for 2001 The Age Book of the Year for Poetry

Heart with piano wire is ‘confessional’ poetry which refuses to whinge, but engages the reader through powerful imagery in what Dr Craig Powell has described as “devastatingly honest testaments about home and family, and the hurt that family members visit upon one another, from generation to generation.” The poems move beyond simple catharsis to grip, even disconcert the reader, with an artful directness.

“This collection is lyrical, touching, vulnerable and mournfully humorous. When the question is asked if confessional verse is worth the self-exposure, in this case one can only say it is. A major new find.” – The Age
