The Office as a Boat
The Office as a Boat is a playful and satirical portrayal of a close-knit group of women in an electronic office in drought-stricken Adelaide. It is a deadpan field study in the working culture of the office, with its gossip and missing items and the Mogadon Man whose ‘menstrual cycle’ is carefully charted. This is a shifting narrative that breaks down the dualities between fiction and fact.
“…In this original work, Costello slips easfully from slice-of-life realist prose to magic realism, from social history to imaginative fancy.” Imago
