Bruce Beaver (born 1928) wrote fourteen books of poetry and a novel. He was one of Australia’s best poets and one of the few poets of his generation who had an extraordinarily wide appeal across all generations. He was the recipient of numerous literary awards, amongst them the Christopher Brennan Award, the Patrick White Award, a Poetry Society Award, the Bi-Centenary Prize for Poetry and the Australian Medal for his contribution to poetry.  He lived with his wife Brenda in Manly from 1963 until his death on 17 February 2004.
